As possible future customers (or not, doesn't matter at this point) I need your opinion: When I start doing commissions again, should I IN YOUR OPINION use set prices or hourly wage?

Hourly wage (5 USD/500 :points: /hour (excluding sketching, for reasons))
Set prices (Probably something between 5 USD/500 :points: and 80 USD/8000 :points: or something.)

Personally I think people would be scared of price/hour. They would be scared you don't actually work as hard and would be just hanging around to get more money or cheat with your hours. There's also no way to prove how many hours you've spent with their comission. So as reasonable as price/hour sounds to the person who's working, it's most likely gonna put a lot of people off from buying from an artist who works like that. Simply since you can't prove when you work and do you work hard. I think the only way to pull through that type of behavior is to do it live stream where A) peeps actually see what you do and how long and B) you will have a video proving the time usage as well.

A lot of people are having hard time trusting a strangers word and I approve this kind of behavior. I don't say you would cheat but I know there's tons of people who would do/try to do that if they got comissioner with price/hour And I know from myself that if I comissioned someone price/hour, I would like to see livestream/video from livestream from the work so I can count that the person I will be paying, wont be cheating.

There's also a small downside/risk to the artist. I mean when you draw a picture, you never know how long it will take in the end. So you wouldn't be able to state out the price of final produckt before hand. That means you would be having a big risk of getting scammed. Since as much as there are those artist who would cheat withe their time, there's also those customers who try to cheat getting art free/cheaper. Let's say you have worked 5 hours to get your basics done. Finalized sketch of character(s) in the picture and maybe even lineart basics. You go and show that for your customer who after that pays for the 5 hours. You are happy and keep working another 5 hours but BAM, soon your customer says they are satisfied with the unfinal piece you've got them already and wont pay for the rest of your time since again, you cannot make them pay beforehand since A) you don't know if getting the picture will get 5 more hours and B) we would be in the situation again where the customer could think you just rip off hours.

That's why I think the set pricing is better. You have more control over the paying and you don't work for nothing if you do your thing the same way I do. I take half of the payment before hand, then create the piece to the final sketch, show to my customer and after getting rest of the payment, I work it till the end. That way I wont get scammed by the customer who decides not to want to have the comission done to the end and my customer don't need to risk of getting scammed by me by me lifting off some payment from hours not used well.

I think the only downside of the set prices is that the price game is really harsh before you get yourself on high popularity level. Basicly you need to work for nearly nothing A LOT before you might have the audience which would be buying something. A lot of skilled artist are suffering from that fate and no matter how low they put their prices, they don't get comissions and underpricing yourself is really bad for the whole community.

Edit: And once again I come here with a friking novel opinion xD Sorry xDDD
